K Madhavan was serving as a managing director for Star India’s south business since 2016. He takes charge after Sanjay Gupta called off the role and decided to start his journey as new country manager and vice president for Google India’s sales and operations.

Madhavan who will be reporting to Uday Shankar, President, Disney and Star India will now have reports from all functional heads. He is already credited with the growth and development of the South Regions’ television industry. He presently supervises the business projects of the company in four southern states and portfolio of local channels in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
Uday Shankar, the President, in an email said, “As you are aware Sanjay Gupta has decided to move on and relieved of his responsibilities at Star by end of this month. Sanjay’s last working day will be December 27, 2019. To create minimum disruption to the business, I have decided that K Madhavan, who has built our regional entertainment business will now look after all our TV businesses across markets and verticals. All of Sanjay’s direct reports will report to K Madhavan. Please join me in congratulating him on his new role, I am confident he will bring great glory and success to Star”.
In March 2019, after the possession of most of the assets of 21st Century Fox which comprised TV giant STAR INDIA, Disney India is known as India’s biggest television broadcaster.

Talking about K. Madhavan, a media industry executive said, “ Star is seeking continuity with the elevation of Madhavan. He is a seasoned hand, who has been in the system for long .”
